Projects

Tepango Valley Archaeological Survey (TVAS)

In 2007-2011 I conducted a survey and settlement analysis in the Tepango River Valley as part of my doctoral work at the University of Kentucky.

Ceramic Trade in The Tuxtla Mountains, Mexico

Chemical and petrographic sourcing demonstrates that Coarse Orange jars produced at Matacapan were traded to other sites in the region.

Altica: The Oldest Village in the Teotihuacan Valley

Excavations and materials analyses from 2013 to 2015 open a window into the oldest settled villages in the Teotihuacan Valley

Formative Pottery Trade in Mesoamerica

Using compositional analyses, I trace objects found at archaeological sites back to their source of production or raw material origins. Doing so allows the archaeologist to reconstruct trade relationships in the past.

Distributed Urban Networks - Gulf Lowlands

Since 2013, we have been working toward building an architectural database for the southern half of Veracruz. The data input for this effort are published archaeological maps and remote sensing using open sourced lidar and satellite imagery.

Gulf Lowlands Raised Fields

In the tropical lowlands of Veracruz, the people converted swampy lands into productive agricultural fields by excavating canals and building up the planting platforms. I have been investigating these techniques through remote sensing and coring.

Tlalixcoyan Archaeological Project (PATlali)

Survey, excavation, and coring in an area with one of the densest concentrations of raised fields in the region.
